How Soccer Shapes My Growth

When people ask me what drives my growth outside of work, my answer is simple: soccer. It’s been part of my life for 22 years, and today, it’s more than just a game. I’m a semi-professional player and an emerging coach, and this pursuit has taught me lessons that go far beyond the field. It’s shaped how I think, how I lead, and how I show up every day at Gallagher.

My Passion: Playing and Coaching Soccer

Soccer has always been my heartbeat. I currently play as a Goalkeeper for the Women’s National Premier League team at Salisbury International Soccer Club. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege to train with Adelaide United and spend eight seasons as a first-choice goalkeeper in the WNPL. Along the way, I’ve earned accolades that remind me why I love this sport, including multiple league championships and a Player of the Match award in a state final.

Coaching is another chapter of my journey. I lead the Under 15 Youth Premier League Girls team, work with Under 16 SA Goalkeepers, and assist with the NTC Program. In 2025, my Under-14 team won both the YCC Championship and the Premiership. These milestones aren’t just wins on paper; they represent growth, resilience, and the power of teamwork.

How It Fuels My Growth at Gallagher

Being an athlete has shaped my mindset in ways that directly impact my role at Gallagher. Soccer taught me how to balance individual performance with team success, which shapes how I collaborate with colleagues. Coaching sharpened my communication skills and taught me the importance of empathy, skills I use every day as a Return-to-Work Specialist.

This pursuit also keeps me grounded. It gives me a healthy work-life balance and a space to learn continuously. Every game, every training session is an opportunity to adapt and grow, and that mindset carries over to my professional life. At Gallagher Bassett, growth isn’t just about titles; it’s about showing up for yourself and others every day.

What Keeps Me Going

My love for soccer started early, thanks to my parents, who were both involved in the sport. Over time, it became my passion and my purpose. Soccer has taught me joy and heartbreak, and it’s given me some of life’s most defining moments. What keeps me going is the chance to make an impact on the field and beyond.

My goal is to create an environment where young players feel supported and empowered, both in sport and in life. If I can leave a legacy that inspires others to grow and thrive, I’ll have achieved more than I could ever hope.
