Why Choose Gallagher

From our family origins to one of the leading global insurance, risk management and professional services organisations. Founded by Arthur J. Gallagher in Chicago in 1927, Gallagher has grown to be one of the leading insurance brokerage, risk management, and HR & benefits consulting companies in the world. With significant reach internationally, our organisation employs over 45,000 people worldwide.

We strive to be an organisation that all our people are proud to be a part of and where everyone can call themselves one of our team. Our culture is centred on embracing of differences, where you can be the best and, perhaps most importantly, be yourself.

We live a culture motivated by The Gallagher Way, our set of shared values and guiding tenets. We celebrate differences and recognise our individualities. If we were all the same, and all thought the same, we would be vulnerable as a group. By welcoming and encouraging diverse opinions and backgrounds within our organisation, we will have a healthier, more innovative and ultimately more profitable business.

Helping our communities face their future with confidence

Every colleague at Gallagher is a connection to our communities, and we encourage all our people to support the incredible contribution that charities and community groups make to society in the places where we live and work.

Our UK colleagues all get access to three days to give back to the causes that matter to them with our generous volunteering policy. In 2022 we began our partnership with Neighbourly to offer an easy route into community volunteering for our colleagues, ensuring easy access to the causes who are delivering vital services to end users. This partnership has gone from strength-to-strength, seeing more colleagues than ever get involved in volunteering with their teams, and as individuals, to create tangible social impact across the UK.

Helping our communities face their future with confidence

Gallagher provides UK colleagues with the opportunity to support their personal fundraising efforts via our matched giving programme, boosting their fundraising efforts by up to £700 per year. Although fundraising has slowed since the beginning of the pandemic, we have been pleased to see a resurgence in colleagues raising much needed funds for the causes that matter to them. In the year we have seen a 125% increase in matched giving applications, with 359 colleagues applying and supporting a collective 163 charities. However, our scheme isn’t just limited to fundraising, but also supports volunteering efforts that take place outside of working hours with £10 an hour in volunteer matching. As of the start of 2023, our matched giving programme will be facilitated by Neighbourly to create one view of all our community and social impact.

We are extremely proud to have achieved our first Bronze Payroll Giving Quality Mark accreditation with many of our workforce signing up to donate every month through their payroll to any UK-registered charity. We saw a 123% increase in colleagues signing up to payroll giving between 2021 and 2022, meaning even more cash going to good causes each month.

At Gallagher, we see diversity as a strength. We believe in fostering a fair, respectful and inclusive culture. A culture where all team members feel empowered and supported to be themselves and achieve their career and lifestyle ambitions. Our people are our biggest asset and we’re committed to our Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) mission to: “create and embed an inclusive culture where everyone is able to bring their whole self to work.” Recognising the value that a diverse workforce brings, doesn’t just create an inclusive culture but helps us better represent the communities we serve.

In 2018 we formed our INCLUDE framework, and embedded the supporting behaviours into our workplace culture. Our INCLUDE behaviours are the foundation for how we work together and treat one another, and are centred on three tenets of The Gallagher Way: we support one another; we believe in one another; and we acknowledge and respect the ability of one another.
