Growth doesn’t just happen at work. For me, it starts on the pavement. Training for the HOKA Sydney Half Marathon has become more than a fitness goal; it’s a way to challenge myself, stay grounded, and bring that energy back into the workplace. Here’s how running shapes my mindset and why it matters for my role at Gallagher.

Why Running Matters to Me

Health and fitness have always been a big part of my life. Right now, I’m focused on the Sydney Half Marathon, aiming to finish in under 1 hour and 50 minutes. The course is tough, with hills that test every ounce of determination, but that’s what I love about it. Running gives me space to switch off, reset, and push my limits. It’s not just about crossing the finish line, it’s about building strength, community, and a positive mindset. I’m even planning to start a Sydney Run Club to connect with colleagues and support our wellbeing together.

How It Shapes My Growth at Gallagher

Training for a race takes discipline, especially when motivation dips. That discipline has taught me resilience, consistency, and mental strength - skills I use every day at work. Whether I’m managing a complex tender or juggling deadlines, the same principles apply: preparation, focus, and belief in yourself. When I look after my physical and mental health, I show up with more energy, clarity, and positivity. Running has made me a stronger leader and a better teammate.

What Keeps Me Going

I’ve always loved a challenge: the feeling of setting a goal, committing to it, and seeing how far I can go. But running is more than a race. It’s how I test my limits and discover what’s possible when I stay consistent. Every run leaves me feeling stronger and more ready to take on the day. It’s a reminder that progress isn’t about perfection; it’s about showing up, even when it’s tough. That mindset shapes how I approach everything I do, including my work at Gallagher.
