Growth doesn’t stop at the job description. For me, it’s about finding ways to challenge myself, stay active, and give back to something I love. Officiating women’s college basketball has been that outlet for over a decade. It’s more than a passion; it’s a pursuit that shapes how I show up every day at RPS.

Why Basketball Officiating?

I’ve been officiating women’s college basketball for 11 years, working at Division 1 and Division 2 levels. I’ve had the privilege of officiating NCAA Final Four and Championship games at Division 2 and Division 3, and my goal is to one day work the NCAA Division 1 tournament. This role keeps me connected to the sport while contributing to its integrity. It’s also a way to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle, build lasting friendships, and mentor aspiring officials. The camaraderie and teamwork make it incredibly rewarding.

How It Fuels My Growth at RPS

Officiating has taught me how to make quick decisions under pressure and stay calm when the stakes are high, skills that translate directly to my role at RPS. When fans are yelling at you for a call, you learn mental toughness fast. That same resilience helps me manage heavy workloads and demanding clients without losing focus. It has also sharpened my communication and conflict resolution skills, which are essential in client interactions and team collaboration. The discipline required in officiating reinforces my work ethic, ensuring I meet deadlines and deliver quality results.

What Keeps Me Going

As a former college basketball player, officiating was my way to stay connected to the game and give back in a positive way. It’s about being a role model for young women in a male-dominated field and breaking barriers as a female official. Every game is a chance to learn and improve, and seeing athletes grow in confidence is incredibly fulfilling. Plus, the success I’ve had in officiating sets an example for my kids; they’re proud when they see Mom on TV.
