Hey there! I've been part of Gallagher for just under five years, and it's been quite the journey. When I joined Gallagher nearly five years ago as a Regional HR Business Partner supporting the Northeast Region for Gallagher Benefit Services, my focus was on supporting employees, partnering with managers, and helping deliver key HR initiatives. Since then, both the business and my role have evolved significantly.
Early in my career at Gallagher, much of my work centered on employee relations, manager support, and day-to-day HR operations. As the organization continued to grow through acquisitions and integration activity, my role expanded beyond traditional HR responsibilities. Today, I work much more strategically with business leaders, helping develop people strategies that support broader business goals and objectives.
Growth Through New Opportunities
Looking back, one of the biggest contributors to my growth has been the relationships I've built across the organization. Gallagher is a large, complex business with many moving parts, and I've learned that growth often comes from reaching beyond your immediate role.
Whether supporting branch growth, navigating merger activity, or adapting to changes across the business, I've had opportunities to collaborate with people from different teams, functions, and leadership levels. Those connections have expanded my perspective, broadened my resources, and helped me become a stronger business partner.
One area that particularly expanded my experience was supporting merger and integration work. During integrations, you're not just supporting processes; you're helping people navigate change. It requires clear communication, collaboration, flexibility, and the ability to build trust quickly with new colleagues joining the organization. While challenging, those experiences taught me how to think beyond traditional HR responsibilities and focus on helping teams come together successfully around a common goal.”
Stepping Out of Comfort Zone: Lessons in Leadership
One of the most meaningful opportunities I've had at Gallagher was participating in the National Hispanic Heritage Month panel through Gallagher's Inclusion Champion Network in 2025.
Sharing my personal story and reflecting on how my cultural background shaped who I am today pushed me far outside my comfort zone. Publicly discussing personal experiences wasn't something that came naturally to me, and I was incredibly nervous leading up to it. But what I discovered was that vulnerability creates connection. By sharing my story, I was able to connect with others in ways I hadn't expected and hopefully make my experiences relatable to those around me.
The experience reinforced an important lesson: growth often happens when we're willing to be uncomfortable. If we stay too long in situations that no longer challenge us, we risk becoming stagnant. Personally, and professionally, I've learned that meaningful development requires us to stretch ourselves, embrace new experiences, and remain open to growth.
Investing in People and Their Potential
Another area I'm especially passionate about is supporting learning and development initiatives such as Elevate and the Mentorship Program.
For me, learning and career growth begin with self-awareness. It's about understanding what you enjoy, where you want to improve, and what future opportunities you want to pursue. When employees start thinking intentionally about those questions, they become more invested in their own development and future.
These programs also help leaders identify and develop future talent. By creating opportunities for people to learn, grow, and explore new possibilities, we foster a culture of curiosity and continuous development. Employees feel valued because they can see that Gallagher is investing in their future, and that often leads to stronger engagement, commitment, and long-term career growth.
The Power of Relationships
If there is one theme that has remained constant throughout my journey, it's the importance of relationships.
Relationships are everything at Gallagher. I genuinely don't know where I would be without the support of the teams, leaders, and Area Presidents I've worked alongside. We all rely on one another, and success comes from being approachable, building trust, and having transparent conversations. Those relationships create an environment where people feel comfortable being honest, asking for support, and helping one another succeed.
That's also why two Gallagher Way tenets resonate so strongly with me: 'We support one another. We believe in one another. We acknowledge and respect the ability of one another' and 'Empathy for the other person is not a weakness.' To me, those principles reflect the reality that we're all working toward common goals while also navigating life's challenges outside of work. Sometimes people need support, understanding, or someone willing to help carry the load. That's what makes Gallagher special.
My journey here has taught me that growth doesn't always come from changing roles or earning a promotion. Sometimes it comes from saying yes to new opportunities, stepping outside your comfort zone, building meaningful relationships, and investing in the success of others. Those experiences have shaped my career, and they'll continue to guide where I go next.
