After nearly three decades in workers’ compensation, I’ve learned that leadership is about people, trust, and showing up when it matters most. When I look at my journey and my time at Gallagher Bassett, what stands out isn’t just the work we do, but how we do it.

From forward-thinking leadership to the way we use technology, and the care we bring to both our colleagues and clients, everything is grounded in one simple idea: people matter.

A Leadership Style that Looks Ahead

I think our leadership here at Gallagher Bassett is very forward-thinking, and that mindset makes a real difference in day-to-day work.

As a leader, I’m encouraged to grow, and I’m empowered to help others do the same. The most rewarding thing about being a leader is seeing the success that my people have.

We’re intentional about recognition. We have a lot of tools to recognize our people with kudos and shout-outs on our internal social media, and those moments matter. They allow us to shine a light on the good work happening every day and reinforce that individual contributions are seen and valued.

One experience that stands out for me has been mentoring early-career talent. I've had the pleasure of managing one of our new Early Talent Intern Program (ETIP) employees, someone brand new to claims, and walking alongside them as they start their career has been incredibly meaningful. It’s a reminder that leadership is about investing in potential.”

Using AI to work smarter

Innovation plays a huge role in how we work, especially when it comes to technology and AI. What sets Gallagher Bassett apart is the intention behind it. We have embraced AI, not in a way that's going to replace anyone, but in a way that's going to make everyone's job easier, freeing up our time to spend it where it truly matters.

The goal is simple: work smarter, not harder. AI helps us prioritize, stay organized, and be more effective so we can focus on our people and our clients. "

It’s also helped us maintain balance. Keeping claim counts to a level where people can really manage their work every day without being overwhelmed has been huge. That balance is critical in a demanding industry, and it’s one of the reasons our teams can consistently deliver strong results and find work-life balance.

In moments that matter, you matter

In workers’ compensation, the moments we’re involved in can be life-changing. That’s why partnership matters so much.

Gallagher Bassett really partners with our clients, especially when situations are serious and time sensitive. We take personal responsibility for our clients’ outcomes, working closely with them to make sure injured workers receive the care they need. We take personal responsibility for our clients’ outcomes, working closely with them to make sure injured workers receive the care they need.

At the heart of it all is empathy. Our role is to help make a difficult moment a little easier for clients, claimants, and our teams. When leadership, technology, people, and purpose align, work becomes more than a job. It becomes a place where you can build a career, make an impact, and truly feel that in moments that matter, you matter.
