When I look back at where I started and where I am now, it’s hard not to feel proud. My journey at Strata Solicitors began just after I finished university, with very little practical experience, plenty of ambition and absolutely no idea how far I could go in a short space of time.

Strata was the first place that gave me an opportunity to grow, learn and build a proper foundation for my legal career. And four years later, I’m now completing my SQE (Solicitors Qualifying Examination) exams and on course to qualify as a solicitor.

Starting Out: From Recovery Claims Handler to Taking on Complex Work

I joined Strata as a Recovery Claims Handler, a role that helped me build the basics. It gave me the grounding I needed to understand claims, systems, processes and the type of thinking required for more technical work.

After about eighteen months, I joined our Progression Programme, which opened the door to higher value, complex and litigated cases. That step changed everything for me. I suddenly had the chance to apply what I’d learnt, challenge myself and take on more responsibility.

Not long after, I joined the Trainee Solicitor Programme, which is helping me build the technical foundation I need to qualify. I’m now working through my SQE exams and getting closer to the moment every aspiring solicitor hopes for.

Why I Chose Strata and Why I’ve Stayed

From the very first interview, Strata made something clear: there is a structured, transparent progression pathway for every single person who joins.

As a young aspiring professional, that meant everything. I wanted to know where I would start, what the next steps could be and how I’d be supported through each phase. Strata laid that out from day one, and the reality matched the promise.

The progression programme is exactly what they said it would be: step-by-step growth, supported by consistent mentorship and real opportunities to develop.

My mentor has been with me since the beginning. Their guidance, feedback and encouragement have played a huge part in my development, not just technically, but also in how I think, communicate and approach complex cases.

The Power of Mentorship

One of the things I value most is Strata’s structured approach to mentoring. You’re not only given a mentor when you start, you have one at each stage of your development, including when you join the trainee programme.

Even better, as you progress, you also get to become a mentor.

Supporting someone who is just starting their journey has helped me strengthen my own skills and apply what I’ve learnt in a completely different way. "

It’s empowering, and it reminds you how far you’ve come. This culture of learning and sharing knowledge is something that sets Strata apart.

A Team You Can Rely On

Work–life balance is something Strata genuinely protects. Whether it’s planned annual leave or unexpected moments, the team steps in without hesitation.

If I’m away, I know my caseload is handled with the same care and professionalism as if it were their own. That level of trust and reliability doesn’t happen by accident, it comes from a culture built on teamwork, support and shared values. Strata understands that you’re not just a solicitor or a trainee, you’re a person with a life. And that matters.

For Graduates or Trainees Thinking of Joining Us

If you’re considering starting your legal career at Strata, I’d say this: It’s one of the best foundations you can have.

Here, you learn the basics properly. You work on real cases, including technical and high value matters. You build confidence. You’re supported by mentors, senior colleagues and qualified solicitors who genuinely want you to succeed. If you’re serious about building a strong legal career, this is a place where you can grow, step by step, with people who care.

My Proudest Moment So Far

The proudest moment in my journey has been securing my training contract. Coming into the firm with almost no practical experience and then working my way through the progression programme, becoming a technical claims handler and finally joining the trainee solicitor pathway, it’s been a huge milestone.

But what makes me proud isn’t just the role. It’s the confidence I’ve gained, the technical skills I’ve developed and the person I’ve become along the way. And I owe a large part of that to the people and culture at Strata."

Looking Ahead

I’m excited about the next steps, qualifying as a solicitor, taking on more complex work and continuing to grow within the organisation. Strata Solicitors and Gallagher Bassett have shown me what’s possible when you're supported, encouraged, and valued.
