As an insurance lawyer, I joined Gallagher's claims team in 2020, managing significant cases and clients. However, my desire for growth and my belief in my ability to contribute more led me to seek new opportunities within the company. This is the story of my journey shaped by trust, collaboration, and professional evolution.

Seizing New Opportunities with Purpose

In mid-2022, I expressed my need for growth and my readiness to take on more responsibilities. Gallagher responded by offering me the role of Area Coordinator, which allowed me to familiarize myself with different departments, showcase my capabilities, and take on new challenges.

This opportunity opened doors for me and paved the way for my current position as the Affinity Manager in 2023. I now lead a team focused on developing personalized insurance products and services for specific market segments striving to maximize value for our clients. My prior experience and cross-functional exposure enabled me to bring fresh thinking and implement innovative strategies that strengthened our competitive edge.

Motivation and Navigation

My primary motivation for pursuing internal job opportunities at Gallagher was the feeling that I am in an ever-growing global organization, where opportunities could be generated. Gallagher’s trust in its people, their abilities, and development encouraged me to approach the process with hard work, dedication, and resilience.

The transition into my new role was challenging, requiring extensive study, training, and learning, as it was an area I was not familiar with in detail. However, the support of key individuals such as my leadership, human resources, and colleagues, who trusted me and generously guided me, providing tools for me to learn and progress, was truly surprising and instrumental in my success.

Building on Previous Roles

Being in other positions within the organization allowed me to learn about different aspects of business administration. I acquired various personal and professional tools that enabled me to approach this new role from a better place.

One of my biggest challenges was gaining the trust of teams that were fatigued—both internally and externally. It demanded empathy, consistency, and daily effort. But with time, trust was built. Step by step, we made progress toward a shared vision: creating a department shaped by purpose, fresh direction, and an environment that empowers every team member.

Impact on Career Growth and Satisfaction

My internal move has been truly an exceptional part of my career; something I’m genuinely grateful for. The opportunities reflect Gallagher’s deep commitment to long-term development and meaningful employee relationships. Leading a strong team has been both one of the most rewarding and challenging aspects of this new role.

When considering this move, I approached building relationships across departments with great respect, humility, and a curiosity to learn from every corner of business.

If I could offer one piece of advice to someone looking to make a similar move would be this; no matter where you’re working or what your current role is, bring your best self. Be grateful, be collaborative, and keep striving to grow. Trust the process and let your leadership know about your desire to take on more. I truly believe that what you sow today, you’ll harvest tomorrow.
