Starting your career can feel overwhelming. There’s so much to learn, so many new experiences, and often a lot of uncertainty about what the future holds. Looking back, one of the biggest factors in helping me build confidence early in my career was the support, development, and hands-on experience I gained through Gallagher’s Achieve Program.

Learning by Doing

1

What set the Achieve Program apart for me was the combination of structured training, mentorship, and real-world experience."

Rather than simply learning about the industry, I had the opportunity to apply what I was learning through meaningful work and client-facing responsibilities.

Each week brought new challenges and opportunities to develop my skills. Having the chance to contribute while continuing to learn helped me build confidence quickly and prepared me to take on greater responsibilities early in my career.

The Power of Mentorship

One of the most valuable parts of my experience was the support I received from mentors, colleagues, and leaders across the organization. They encouraged me to ask questions, stay curious, and continue learning.

When you're starting a new career or entering the workforce for the first time, it can be intimidating to feel like you should already know all the answers. What I learned through Achieve is that growth comes from being willing to ask questions and seek guidance. Those conversations not only accelerated my learning but also helped me build meaningful professional relationships.

Building a Network That Lasts

The networking skills I developed through the program continue to help me today. One piece of advice I always share is to follow up after meeting someone.

Making a connection is only the first step. The real relationship begins when you take the time to send a quick thank-you message, continue the conversation, and stay in touch. Those small actions can have a lasting impact and often lead to valuable opportunities down the road.

I also found it helpful to connect with professionals across the organization and within the insurance industry more broadly. Building those relationships allowed me to learn from different perspectives, expand my network, and gain a better understanding of the industry as a whole.

A Culture Built on Support

To me, Gallagher's culture is about showing up for one another. Whether it's helping a colleague prepare for an important meeting, sharing knowledge, answering questions, or celebrating milestones together, there is a genuine sense of teamwork and care. People invest in each other's success, and that support extends far beyond day-to-day work. That culture made it easier to grow professionally while feeling connected personally.

If I had to summarize working at Gallagher in one sentence, I would say:

1

Working at Gallagher is both fulfilling and fun because we can see the meaningful impact our work has on clients, while being surrounded by people who make every day enjoyable."

Looking Ahead

The Achieve Program gave me more than technical knowledge, it gave me confidence, experience, and a strong foundation for my career. Through training, mentorship, networking opportunities, and hands-on learning, I was able to develop skills that continue to support me in my role today.

For anyone starting their career or looking to build new skills in a supportive environment, Achieve provides an opportunity to learn, grow, and make an impact from day one.
