When I joined Gallagher Bassett, my days started with something simple: answering phones. But every task, no matter how small, opened the door to something bigger. Over the years, I moved into medical‑only adjusting, then resolution manager, senior resolution manager, and eventually supervisor.

That growth didn’t happen alone. As I often say, I had to crawl first… and then I was off and running. That took somebody being willing to take the time to mentor me.

I still carry that with me today. It shaped how I show up as a leader, how I invest in my team, how I train, and how I reassure them that I’m here to help them learn, grow, and find confidence.

Leading Through Collaboration and Trust

The heart of my leadership style is simple: collaboration.

What I like most about leading at Gallagher Bassett is that it’s a collaboration where team leaders work closely with team members. We talk openly. We share ideas honestly. We figure out solutions together. And that’s what creates a team that feels connected, empowered, and capable of tackling anything.

But beyond how I lead, what keeps me inspired is how I’m led. The trust my manager places in me to confidently handle the everyday essential tasks and priorities makes this a motivating environment and ultimately a place I want to continue to work.

Trust is powerful. It makes you want to stay. It makes you want to give your best. And after 17 years, I can say that trust is one of the defining parts of our culture."

A Culture That Puts People First

If there’s one thing I’m grateful for, it’s that Gallagher Bassett sees me as a whole person, not just an employee.

They prioritize my well‑being and my personal health. They encourage and support a strong work‑life balance. That balance has helped me stay focused when life is messy, engaged when work is demanding, and grounded when challenges come up. It’s rare to find a workplace that genuinely believes you should have a life outside of work too, but I’ve found it here.

Why I’ve Stayed

I chose to build a long‑term career with Gallagher Bassett because I believed in their core values, and I felt like their purpose aligned with mine.

I researched GB before joining. I wanted to know who they were and what they stood for. And I found a company rooted in values, built on integrity, and committed to doing the right thing.

Even as we’ve grown into a large organization, we’ve kept that “small‑town feel.” And that’s exactly what it feels like growing up together.

Guiding the Next Generation

Today, my work goes beyond managing tasks; it’s about mentoring people.

I’ve had the privilege of coaching new talent, including INVEST participants fresh out of college who are stepping into workers’ compensation for the first time. They come in with questions, uncertainty, and excitement, just like I once did.

That’s what leadership is. Not having all the answers, but being there as someone learns to find their own.

Workers’ compensation can be emotional work. People come to us on some of the hardest days of their lives, facing uncertainty, fear, and loss.

I carry that with me every day. These people are coming to us from a place where they didn’t ask to be; we have to be compassionate toward them. We have to be their voice sometimes. This is not just a job. It’s a responsibility. It’s a moment where someone truly matters, and we get to show up for them.

In moments that matter, you matter

When I think about "In moments that matter, you matter", I don’t hear a slogan. I hear the truth of my journey.

The moments that mattered in my career, the mentorship, the trust, the empathy, the chances to grow, shaped who I am today. If I didn’t matter, I probably wouldn’t be here after 17 years. Everybody has to matter. We’re one team.

And it’s not just employees who matter. It’s clients. It’s injured workers. It’s every single person who trusts us in their most vulnerable moments.

At Gallagher Bassett, we don’t just manage claims; we guide, support, and care during moments that truly matter.
