I started my journey at Gallagher as a summer intern in 2018. That experience gave me early exposure not just to the insurance industry, but to the culture that defines how we work. After graduating, I joined full‑time as a producer, supporting public sector and higher education clients and building a strong foundation in client relationships as an employee benefits consultant.
Over time, I found myself increasingly interested in how we could create a broader, more meaningful impact particularly around inclusion and access across our industry. That curiosity led me into my current role as an Inclusion, Diversity & Engagement Project Manager. Hi, I am Paul and today, I lead national initiatives such as the expansion of Gallagher Connect Partners and contribute to early talent programs like the Center for Insurance Transformation, with a focus on ensuring diverse voices are heard, valued, and reflected across the organization.
Where Excellence and Inclusion Come Together
For me, a commitment to excellence is about delivering outcomes that are both impactful and sustainable. In my work, that means ensuring inclusion isn’t treated as a standalone initiative, but as something fully integrated into how we drive business performance.”
At Gallagher, that approach is grounded in The Gallagher Way, where respect, empathy, and collaboration shape how we serve our clients and support one another. When we welcome all perspectives in an inclusive manner into our decision‑making, we unlock more thoughtful, innovative solutions. Over time, I’ve seen how inclusion strengthens not just culture, but business outcomes helping us win work, deepen client relationships, and create long‑term value.
Creating Impact Through Intentional Programs
One of the most defining experiences for me has been my work with our intern cohort entering the organization through our Center for Insurance Transformation (CIT) sponsorship. The program is focused on creating pathways for students from Mississippi HBCUs to enter the insurance industry through training and guaranteed internship opportunities.
What makes this work meaningful is not just the scale, but the intent behind it. As our investment in CIT has grown, so has our ability to expand intern cohorts and build structured experiences from onboarding and mentorship to development pathways that support long‑term success. We’re now seeing tangible outcomes, including returning interns and full‑time placements.
For me, this is a clear example of how inclusion‑focused programs can strengthen talent pipelines while creating real impact for individuals and for the business.
Bringing People Together to Drive Change
Much of my work requires bringing different teams together to align around shared goals. One thing I’ve learned is that alignment starts with a clear ‘why’. When teams understand how an initiative connects to their goals whether that’s client impact, revenue, or talent strategy it becomes something they actively contribute to, rather than something separate.
From there, it’s about building strong relationships, creating clear frameworks, and making collaboration practical. I focus on engaging stakeholders early, defining roles clearly, and maintaining consistent communication so people feel involved and heard throughout the process.
Inclusion plays a role here as well; making space for different perspectives, encouraging open dialogue, and building trust across teams. When that happens, alignment turns into action, and programs can scale in a meaningful way.
Building a Culture Where Impact Can Grow
At its core, what enables all of this is Gallagher’s culture. To me, it’s not just something we talk about it’s something we actively live every day.
You see it in how people collaborate, how feedback is shared, and how teams support one another. There’s a clear expectation of professionalism, respect, and empathy, and a strong belief that the best outcomes come from working together and learning from one another. It creates an environment where people feel comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work and confident in contributing their perspectives.”
If I had to share one piece of advice, it would be this: real impact comes from balancing performance with people. Delivering high-quality work matters, but so does how you show up, how you listen, collaborate, and help create space for others.
Some of the most meaningful impact I’ve had has come from stepping beyond my immediate role, building relationships across teams, and helping bring people together around shared goals.
For me, that’s what makes Gallagher unique. The opportunity to grow, contribute, and be part of something that’s not just focused on performance, but on building a more inclusive and connected future together.
