When people hear my career story, insurance is usually not where they expect it to end.

I joined the Army in 2005 and spent years serving in both infantry and explosive ordnance disposal roles. After multiple deployments and assignments around the world, I transitioned into disaster response, risk management, and eventually the insurance industry. Along the way, I developed a deep appreciation for problem-solving, teamwork, and serving others.

Those experiences ultimately led me to Gallagher.

A Culture Built on Shared Values

Before joining Gallagher, I worked alongside Gallagher brokers and claims advocates as a client. What stood out wasn't just their expertise. It was how they treated people.

When an opportunity to join the organization became available, the decision felt natural. The values behind The Gallagher Way, including integrity, teamwork, service, and a client-first mindset, closely aligned with the values I learned during my military career.

“In the military, it's mission first. At Gallagher, it's client first. The principle is the same: focus on serving others and doing what's right.”

Solving Complex Challenges

My military background taught me how to analyze complex situations, work with available resources, and focus on achieving the best outcome. I use that same mindset today as a Senior Claims Advocate.

Whether helping clients navigate a difficult claim or coordinating with multiple stakeholders, the goal remains the same: solve problems, support clients, and deliver meaningful results.

Gallagher encourages that approach. Colleagues work together, share knowledge, and stay focused on doing what's best for clients.

A Place Where Veterans Can Thrive

One of the things I've appreciated most is how Gallagher recognizes the strengths veterans bring to the workplace.

Leadership, adaptability, accountability, and teamwork are skills developed through military service, and they're highly valued here. From my first day, I felt welcomed by my colleagues and supported as I adapted to a new chapter in my career.

That welcoming culture has made a real difference. Gallagher doesn't just talk about teamwork. People genuinely support one another and want to see each other succeed.

Why Gallagher Was the Right Choice

My advice to anyone considering a transition into a new career is simple: build relationships, stay curious, and find an organization whose values match your own.

For me, Gallagher checked all those boxes. The onboarding experience was professional, the leadership was accessible, and the culture made me feel included from the start. Most importantly, I found an organization where integrity and service are more than words. They're part of how business is done every day.
