From Local to Global: My Journey with TAGS at Gallagher

At Gallagher, we live by a commitment to continuous growth and resilience, values that are at the heart of The Gallagher Way. My journey with our TA Global Support (TAGS) team has been all about building a future of impact, empowerment, and expansion in recruitment support. From a modest start with a small team of U.S.-based coordinators, TAGS has since evolved into a powerful, global presence spanning the US, UK, and India, supporting a wide-range of recruitment functions across the organization. Here's my story of transformation, challenges, and the drive to make an impact.

Expanding Horizons: The Early Vision

When I first inherited the AskRecruiting team in early 2022, I saw an opportunity to expand our capabilities and reach. The team was a tight-knit group of seven coordinators handling basic recruitment tasks in the US. I knew we could aim higher and stretch our impact beyond borders, so I set out with a vision to build an agile, capable team by not only creating new roles but also opportunities within TA that could support recruitment operations across Gallagher’s global footprint.

To bring this vision to life, we implemented new tools and streamlined processes, which helped us increase productivity and efficiency. I also encouraged my team to take ownership of their work, push their ideas forward, and even challenge the status quo. Seeing each team member's growth and willingness to contribute fresh ideas has been the most rewarding part of this journey.

Championing Trust and Resilience

Building a team means building trust, and that wasn't immediate. There were moments when we needed to prove ourselves, especially in the face of skepticism. I spent hours listening to our business partners’ concerns and making sure they felt heard and valued. By reinforcing our standards of excellence and customer support—through regular audits, one-on-ones, and team meetings—we gradually built confidence and credibility.

Another challenge was navigating the changing needs of our business partners. To keep our team responsive, I designed a real-time notification system, so we’d be ready to adjust and evolve as the business required. Fostering a culture of open dialogue and feedback has been essential in making sure we all stay aligned and focused. These efforts turned potential obstacles into moments of growth, fueling our progress every step of the way.

Making a Lasting Impact

Today, TAGS operates as more than just a global recruitment support team serving 100+ talent acquisition professionals - we've become a trusted partner across HR functions, collaborating with departments like Payroll, Finance, and Compliance to support our hiring teams and ensure a smooth candidate experience. We continue to expand into new regions, integrate acquired businesses, and meet the demands of our growing organization.

This journey has taught me that impressive results come from pushing beyond what's expected. By leveraging new technologies, data analytics, and the expertise of my team, we’ve improved time-to-fill metrics, elevated candidate quality, and fostered a culture of continuous growth and learning. I’m proud that TAGS has become a model of resilience, adaptability, and partnership within Gallagher and was recognized by Gartner in their August issue.”

The Gallagher Way: Our Guiding Light

At the heart of our success lies The Gallagher Way, a set of tenets that guide our actions and decisions. TAGS champions these tenets in multiple ways, from collaborating with experts to achieve success (tenets 2, 10, 11, 12) to prioritizing the needs of requestors and ensuring a great candidate experience (tenets 7, 23). We also embrace the tenets of addressing issues head-on and using every opportunity as a learning experience (tenets 11, 20).

The Gallagher Way has been our guiding light, encouraging and supporting innovation in our day-to-day work. It has fostered a culture where we feel empowered to push boundaries, think creatively, and continuously improve our processes and services.

Looking ahead, with the continued growth of AI, we anticipate a shift towards more value-added tasks, allowing us to focus on strategic initiatives and high-impact projects. By embracing automation and new technologies, we can streamline our processes even further, improving efficiency and productivity within our department.

By championing innovation and continuous improvement, we have transformed the way we operate and support recruitment across the organization. The journey isn’t over yet and I’m excited to remain dedicated to pushing boundaries, embracing change, and driving success for Gallagher and its employees.
