Championing Excellence: My Journey of Growth and Resilience at Gallagher

As I reflect on my time at Gallagher, I'm filled with a sense of pride and gratitude for the opportunities I've had to grow, learn, and contribute to our shared success. Since joining the company in August 2022, I've been on a journey that's been both challenging and rewarding, and I'm excited to share some insights into what it means to champion excellence in everything we do. 

I joined Gallagher as an HR Business Partner to lead the Payroll Integration Project. It was a complex project that pushed me beyond my comfort zone. A year later, thanks to the project’s success and my previous experience, I stepped into the role of HR Manager for Colombia. Today, I lead all HR processes and my team with a deep commitment to developing strategies that enhance employee engagement and align with both local and global standards. 

The Power of Continuous Learning 

One of the key factors that's helped me maintain my track record at Gallagher is my commitment to upskilling and continuous learning. In today's rapidly changing world, staying abreast of new developments is essential to remaining competitive and agile. I believe that knowledge of the business, processes, industry, clients, and new trends allows us to implement initiatives, structure and document processes, and create new methodologies that drive better results. 

Strategies for Upholding Excellence 

To uphold Gallagher’s standards of excellence, I’ve established key performance indicators across the processes I manage. These KPIs help identify levels of compliance and spotlight opportunities for improvement. As a leader, I hold weekly follow-ups with my team to assess work status, flag any risks, and reinforce our commitment to excellence. 
 
I like to structure everything around processes and policies, so that execution is based on clear documentation or flowcharts. This minimizes errors and helps prevent future issues. 
When problems arise, my focus is always on solving them at the root cause. I believe that real improvement comes from learning and evolving processes not pointing fingers. 
 
And finally, I make learning a daily habit. Staying curious about the business and our industry helps me and my team deliver work that is thoughtful, aligned, and of the highest quality.

Championing Through Collaboration 

Collaboration plays a crucial role and I’ve always believed that it’s build together.  

During a recent project, I relied heavily on the diverse strengths of my team. Their support and expertise enhanced the quality of our outcomes and fostered a culture of learning and mutual respect. 
Each person at Gallagher brings accountability to their role, which makes it easier to uphold standards and achieve goals together. This culture of collaboration reflects the very essence of the Gallagher Way and reminds me that I’m working alongside trusted partners. 

Overcoming Challenges with Resilience 

There are daily challenges when you're working towards a common business goal with many moving parts. 
 
One of the biggest challenges I faced was during the Payroll Integration Project. As a native Spanish speaker, I had to explain complex local legislation in English to global teams across the US and India. I prepared thoroughly for every meeting, practiced what I needed to say, and stayed focused on what I knew. This helped me build confidence, and eventually, everyone understood me and respected my efforts. 
 
Another major challenge was ensuring the accuracy of payroll data being migrated into the new system. I designed a local work plan with specific tasks and deadlines, created templates for cross-audits, and documented the entire process. Attention to detail, teamwork, and a structured approach made all the difference. 
 
These moments reinforced my belief that resilience and consistency, grounded in our tenets, are what allow us to maintain excellence no matter the obstacle. 

As I continue my journey at Gallagher, I'm committed to championing excellence in everything I do, whether it's leading projects, developing strategies, or fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace culture. By embracing continuous learning, collaborating with my colleagues, and remaining resilient in the face of challenges, I'm confident that we can navigate the future together and achieve even greater success.
