When I think about what makes Gallagher Bassett different, I always come back to one thing: people. Throughout my career here, I've felt genuinely supported, encouraged and valued, both professionally and personally. From development opportunities and community initiatives to the support I received during one of the most challenging periods of my life, I've experienced first-hand what it means to be part of a culture built on integrity and care.

A Place Where People Come First

At Gallagher Bassett, I've always felt that people come first, and that's what makes me feel truly valued and respected.

I've had opportunities to complete both my CERT CII qualification and ILM Apprenticeship, achievements that wouldn't have been possible without GB's investment in my development. Those experiences made me feel recognised, supported and empowered to continue growing my career.

What also stands out to me is the organisation's commitment to giving back. Through volunteering hours, mental health days, matched giving initiatives and donation programmes, GB demonstrates that it cares not only about the work we do, but also about the difference we make in our communities. As a Charity Champion and member of the ESG Committee, I've had opportunities to contribute to causes that matter deeply to me, which has strengthened my connection to the organisation even further.

How Collaboration Drives Excellence

One experience that perfectly demonstrated the importance of integrity involved supporting a client with a highly specific reporting requirement.

The client's request required a tailored approach and a significant amount of attention to detail. I knew this wasn't simply about achieving a KPI. It was about demonstrating our commitment to delivering what we promised.

To ensure success, I introduced a new process across the team and trained colleagues to capture the information needed during claims handling. I worked tirelessly to ensure we achieved 100% accuracy, cleansing data and checking every detail to ensure the reporting was reliable.

The effort paid off. The client was delighted with the results and even created a certificate to recognise the work. The experience reinforced for me how integrity, attention to detail and going above and beyond can strengthen relationships and build trust.

Confidence to Speak Up

1

Gallagher Bassett has created a culture where people feel safe to raise concerns and speak openly when something doesn't feel right.”

Through supportive leadership, regular check-ins, feedback channels and trained mental health first aiders, employees have access to the support they need. I've always felt encouraged to share concerns, knowing my voice would be heard and respected.

That culture of trust and openness enables us to address challenges collaboratively while continuing to uphold our commitment to doing the right thing.

Support When I Needed It Most

One of the most significant moments in my life came when I was diagnosed with a rare inherited genetic kidney disorder.

Coming to terms with a life-changing diagnosis was incredibly difficult. It was a period filled with uncertainty, hospital appointments, treatments and countless adjustments. What I'll always remember is how Gallagher Bassett showed up for me during that time.

My leaders provided flexibility, supported me in balancing work with medical appointments and allowed me to work from home whenever needed. Beyond the practical support, it was the kindness of colleagues across the business that had the greatest impact.

Whether it was someone stopping for a chat, checking in at the coffee machine or simply asking, "How are you?", those small moments made a huge difference. They reminded me that I wasn't facing things alone. The care and compassion I experienced reinforced why I'm proud to work at Gallagher Bassett.

Choosing Integrity Over Convenience

There was one occasion when I identified a discrepancy within a client's account that could easily have been overlooked.

Addressing it meant additional investigation, tight deadlines and collaboration across multiple teams. It certainly wasn't the easiest option, but I knew it was the right thing to do.

What stood out was the support I received from my leaders throughout the process. They encouraged me to take the time needed to fully investigate the issue and provided the resources necessary to resolve it correctly. The client's trust was strengthened because we chose transparency over convenience. That experience showed me that integrity is always worth the effort.

Integrity Is a Daily Practice

As an Accounts Receivable Specialist, doing the right thing means acting with integrity, accuracy and accountability every day.

It's about taking ownership of my work, maintaining high standards and being willing to raise concerns when something doesn't look right. It's also about supporting colleagues, finding ways to improve how we work and remaining solutions-focused when challenges arise.

But for me, integrity goes beyond processes and procedures. It's also about how we treat one another. The small acts of kindness that meant so much to me during difficult times are the same acts I now try to pass on to others. Sometimes simply asking a colleague how they're doing can have a bigger impact than we realise.

At Gallagher Bassett, integrity isn't just a value written on a wall. It's something we practise every day through our actions, our decisions and the way we care for one another.
