Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Governance Lead to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and executing a central data governance framework in a hub and spoke model. This role is critical in ensuring data integrity, quality and compliance with relevant regulations and standards. This team member will be responsible for taking the organizational vision and setting the framework with the divisions for execution. Ideal candidate will be a skilled manager as well as adept at influencing without authority.
How you'll make an impact
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance program to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance; establish data governance strategies, policies, and frameworks aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and leadership to define data governance objectives and priorities; lead the syndication and implementation of data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Measure the adoption of data governance policies and business value of data quality improvement; conduct data quality assessments and implement measures to improve data accuracy, completeness, and consistency for business-critical data.
- Stay up to date with data privacy regulations and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations; develop and deliver data governance training and awareness programs; lead data governance and stewardship committees including facilitating discussions on data-related initiatives.
- Identify and lead teams to perform root cause analysis of data governance and data quality issues; make remediation business cases and improvement plans; work with business and technology teams to implement data governance tools and technologies.
- Lead the implementation and configuration of the Collibra Data Governance platform for the global organization, including the analysis, development, build, and deployment of an Enterprise Data Catalog that addresses data lineage in support of privacy, security, regulatory, legal, and audit initiatives.
- Lead the implementation of a new MDM tool within the organization to produce a Customer 360 and other mastered domains.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define data governance requirements and develop governance policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with IT teams to integrate data governance tools with other data management systems and tools.
- Define data quality monitoring and remediation process partnering with domain owner, data product, and analytics team.
- Ability to influence peers and Senior Leaders through the ability to articulate roadmaps, functionality, and clear organizational benefits of the data catalog implementation, as supported by data and KPIs.
- Collaborate with data stewards, data owners, and data consumers to establish best practices, processes, and procedures in support of our data governance program.
- Participate in data governance committees and provide expertise and guidance on data governance initiatives.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of data governance strategies and roadmaps in the divisions.
- Facilitate and collaborate with data stewards to define enterprise business terms and assist with bringing resolution to data quality concerns and issues.
- Establish and document procedures to harvest and curate data assets, including classifying mastered and reference data, identifying the authoritative source, and what and where sensitive data resides.
- Partner with vendors on product(s) functionality to maximize our usage of the capabilities within the product.
- Establish a culture of learning & development for the team on data governance and privacy.
About You
- Minimum ten years of recent experience as a Data Governance Director or similar leadership role in a large-scale, complex organization
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, computer science, information management, or a related field is preferred; master’s degree from an accredited college or university is highly preferred
- Six Sigma, Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC), Total Quality Management (TQM) or similar continuous improvement experience preferred.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing comprehensive data governance programs.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the aptitude to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated capability to lead and manage cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration, and achieving high-performance outcomes; proven ability to lead and manage change initiatives while driving organizational transformation.
- Experience developing and implementing MDM solutions and data governance frameworks.
- Experience with Collibra Data Governance platform.
- Relevant certifications, such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), or similar, would be advantageous.
- Full lifecycle experience implementing data & analytics solutions with a working knowledge of agile development, SCRUM and DevOps
