Employee Wellbeing Starts with Listening

My journey at Gallagher is one of the most meaningful experiences in my career. From the beginning, I’ve had the opportunity to work with high performing, goal oriented teams and leaders who have supported me at every stage of my growth. Along the way, I’ve not only learnt about the insurance brokerage business, but also what it means to contribute with purpose.

Today, as an HR Business Partner for LATAM, I’m proud to be recognized as a trusted partner to the business. It has given me the chance to work across projects, teams, and challenges and, importantly, the confidence to contribute with my own perspective, experience, and judgement.

What Employee Wellbeing Really Means

For me, employee wellbeing means everything. It sits at the center of how we build strong teams and sustainable performance. Over time, I’ve come to understand that wellbeing is not one size fits all. It is deeply personal.

Our role in HR is to listen, connect, and find the right balance point for each individual while aligning with the needs of the business. I truly believe wellbeing is a shared responsibility. We all play a role in supporting one another, and as leaders, we carry an added responsibility to listen, understand, and act with care.

Making Wellbeing Real Across Teams

Working across LATAM means navigating diverse cultures, expectations, and ways of working. To make wellbeing initiatives meaningful, I focus first on active listening, understanding what truly matters to different teams and individuals.

From there, it’s about designing approaches that are inclusive, locally relevant, and collaborative. Instead of applying a standard solution, I work to cocreate initiatives with stakeholders, so they genuinely resonate. This not only strengthens impact but also builds a shared sense of ownership and belonging.

One example that stands out is the transition to our new office. While not traditionally seen as a wellbeing initiative, it had a powerful impact on our people. From communication plans and change management efforts to involving families and addressing concerns through FAQs, it was about making people feel informed, supported, and included. Most importantly, it created a strong sense of belonging, something that reflects the Gallagher Way in action.

Where Wellbeing, Leadership, and Performance Connect

There’s a clear connection between wellbeing, engagement, and performance and leadership plays a critical role in bringing that to life.

Leaders set the tone. They provide stability, clarity, and reassurance, especially during times of change. They are also the first to listen, understand concerns, and help prioritize what matters most for their teams.

When people feel supported and valued, they are more open to change, more engaged in their work, and more willing to take on new challenges. That’s when performance naturally follows, not through pressure, but through trust and confidence.

Building a Culture Where People Can Thrive

Culture is the foundation that makes everything else possible. It shapes how people feel, behave, and connect to their work and to each other.

At Gallagher, what stands out to me is the consistency between what we say and what we do. Our culture genuinely supports people in feeling valued, motivated, and connected. It creates an environment where individuals can grow both personally and professionally.

Looking ahead, what excites me most is the opportunity to deepen that impact, to create spaces where people feel truly understood and empowered. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing genuine happiness and engagement come from simply listening and responding with intention.

I’m deeply grateful to be part of an organization that not only values performance, but also prioritizes people, balance, and growth. It’s a place where I’ve been able to evolve, contribute meaningfully, and be part of something that truly makes a difference.
