Embracing the Gallagher Way: A Journey of Growth, Support, and Belonging
Hi, I’m Presandi, Application Digital Lead based in Sri Lanka, and I’m excited to share a glimpse into my life at Gallagher. From the moment I joined, I’ve felt the impact of a culture that’s people-first, flexible, and rooted in care and connection. Gallagher is a workplace that believes in empowering employees with a caring touch; and that’s not just a tagline, it’s my everyday experience.
Join me as I take you through a typical day at Gallagher and share the moments that have made my experience here so meaningful.
How a Typical Day Unfolds
Our hybrid work model gives me the best of both worlds. I typically work from the office two to three days a week, and the rest remotely. On office days, I prefer arriving early, it sets a calm tone and allows me to organize my workspace. My day kicks off with reviewing emails and project delivery tasks, followed by daily stand-ups with the team and other project or practice-level meetings.
Even with a busy schedule, there’s always space for meaningful human connection casual conversations with colleagues, celebrating birthdays or milestones, and quick coffee breaks in our chill-out area.
On remote days, I stay equally connected through virtual meetings, and I appreciate how seamless and supportive the setup is. This balance between structure and flexibility helps me maintain productivity without compromising well-being.
That level of care and understanding truly reflected Gallagher's people-first values.
Why I Love What I Do
What I love most about my role at Gallagher is the opportunity to collaborate with my team members. I truly enjoy engaging with people, and this role allows me to connect with different individuals each day, making every experience unique. Gallagher fosters a culture of mutual respect, not just within projects, but across all interactions. That level of support and teamwork really stands out.
From day one, the company provides excellent training that goes beyond technical skills, helping us understand the company's culture, values, and expectations. Whether it's project discussions or casual team moments, I feel appreciated. It's this balance of professional growth and genuine human connection that makes my workday especially meaningful at Gallagher.
Living the Gallagher Values Every Day
Gallagher values are strongly reflected in our daily work culture, especially through empathy, collaboration, and support. A recent example stands out clearly for me, when my 5-year-old son was suddenly hospitalized with the flu, I was understandably anxious and caught off guard while at the office.
My colleagues and managers immediately stepped in to help me reorganize my tasks so I could focus on my family without added stress. That level of care and understanding truly reflected Gallagher's people-first values.
Another memorable moment was witnessing how warmly our team welcomed a new joiner. From a structured onboarding process to informal support and friendly guidance, we helped them feel at home quickly. This increases the team output and efficiency drastically.
The Gallagher tenet that resonates with me the most is “We are an open society.” It’s an environment where diverse ideas are celebrated, collaboration thrives, and I’m encouraged to bring my authentic self to work. That openness fuels not only my professional growth, but a deep sense of belonging. Here, I’m more than a team member—I’m part of a community.
Despite the pace and pressure of our work, we prioritize team bonding, informal chats, and celebrating each other’s wins.
What Might Surprise You
People outside Gallagher often assume project-based roles are rigid and task-focused. But here, there’s a surprising amount of warmth, flexibility, and human connection. Despite the pace and pressure of our work, we prioritize team bonding, informal chats, and celebrating each other’s wins. Whether it’s a birthday, a team achievement, or just showing up for someone in a tough moment, those gestures matter.
Work-life balance here is intentional. There’s no pressure to respond after hours, which reduces miscommunication and gives us room to think clearly.
I’ve never had to work weekends, and we even have the option to earn TOIL leave when needed. One of the standout initiatives is the Mental Health Holiday, a thoughtful gesture that goes a long way in promoting personal well-being.
Whether I’m working from home or the office, staying connected to Gallagher’s culture is a priority for me. I actively participate in virtual meetings, project discussions, and team conversations.
I also make it a point to celebrate team achievements and recognize individual efforts. These small but meaningful actions help build a positive, inclusive atmosphere that reflects who we are as a company.
