When I look back on my career at Gallagher Bassett, what stands out most isn't a single achievement or project. It's the opportunities I've been given to grow, challenge myself, support others and help people reach their potential. That's what has kept my career interesting, and it's what continues to motivate me today.
Excited by What Comes Next
What excites me most about the future is the continued growth of Gallagher Bassett. Through acquisitions and expansion into new areas of the business, there's always something new happening.
No two days are ever the same, and that's one of the things I enjoy most about working here. There are always opportunities to get involved in different projects, work with new teams and make a real impact. I'm excited to continue being part of that journey, helping shape the way we work while supporting the development of the people around me.”
Trusted to Make a Difference
What makes me feel that I matter at GB is the trust that's placed in me. I've been given the opportunity to make decisions, lead my team and drive changes that make a real difference. Rather than simply maintaining processes, I've been trusted to challenge existing ways of working, improve them and find better solutions.
I also feel valued because my opinions are listened to, and I'm given the freedom to manage my team in a way that works best for both them and the business. Knowing I can make an impact, help my team develop and contribute to the wider success of GB is what makes my work meaningful.
Growing as a Leader
One of the most significant development opportunities I've had was taking part in the Emerging Leadership Programme in 2023.
The programme had a huge impact on me. It helped shape the way I lead my team and gave me the confidence to approach challenges differently. I gained a better understanding of how to support and develop people, hold more effective conversations and make decisions with a broader perspective.
Looking back, it definitely helped me grow as a leader. I feel much better equipped to support colleagues, guide my team through change and make difficult decisions when needed. It's something I continue to draw upon regularly in my role today.
Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone
If there's one lesson that's helped shape my career, it's this: back yourself and don't be afraid to take on something new, even when it feels outside your comfort zone.
Some of the biggest opportunities in my career have come from getting stuck into challenges I hadn't done before and trusting that I'd work things out along the way. That advice encouraged me to take on new responsibilities, get involved in change projects and step into roles that helped me grow both professionally and personally.
Not everything has gone perfectly, but I've learned something from every experience. It's given me the confidence to make decisions, support my team and keep looking for ways to improve rather than simply sticking with what's familiar.
Seeing Others Succeed
The moment that makes me proudest isn't linked to one specific project. It's seeing how much my team has grown and developed over the years.
I've always been passionate about giving people opportunities to develop and supporting them to reach their potential. Watching team members build confidence, take on new responsibilities and progress in their careers has been incredibly rewarding.
Knowing I've played a small part in helping them get there is something I'm genuinely proud of. For me, that's what makes Gallagher Bassett such a great place to work. People are given opportunities to grow, and it's rewarding to be part of that journey, both for myself and for the people around me.
