The Technical Project Manager is the owner of end-to-end project management and professional implementation of IT business solutions. You will have experience running complicated projects across a wide range of technology streams in the organisation providing consultancy and technology services as a key supplier to the business.  

You will plan and resource for a wide variety of client projects. You will liaise internally with the Service Delivery team, Account Managers, Practice Leads, and Technical Architects as well as externally with customers and third-party suppliers. You will provide progress reports to the Senior Management team and other stakeholders as required, in line with the PMO procedures.

  • Ownership of the budget and all financial project reporting to internal and external stakeholders. Utilise strong commercial awareness to support company and client objectives. Ensure projects are delivered within budget.
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in alignment with Senior Management & Stakeholders. Assign and continually manage realistic and practical goals for each project
  • Own the technical implementation from project commencement to client sign-off and initiate corrective action where necessary
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical paths. Successfully deliver release/go live.
  • Develop full scale project plans and associated communications documents (PIDs etc.)
  • Evaluate the progress of each project on a regular basis and take proactive steps to resolve any risks or issues
  • Propose technically feasible and commercially viable delivery solutions and work closely with clients to implement their projects. Establish success criteria and act as the single point of contact for the client for all issues and technical deliverables during the delivery and integration
  • Identify internal and external resources to facilitate successful delivery
  • Plan delivery timescales and ensure projects are completed on time. May also provide input to the planning of bid proposals to confirm delivery timescales
  • Develop and deliver project progress reports and presentations. Produce clear and concise documentation of requirements/solutions suitable for multiple levels of stakeholders
  • Input to project pipeline planning, release and resource planning to maintain effective team utilisation
  • Set and manage project expectations with team members and other business partners
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project teams
  • Responsible for the running of technical workshops covering multiple technologies, drawing on internal specialist resource where required
  • Regular travel as required to visit external stakeholders and client sites along with flexibility in location
  • Flexibility in working hours to suit the project delivery in line with our business requirements
Person Specification:

  • 5 + years previous relevant experience, mix of commercial and insurance experience is desirable
  • ITIL or Prince2 or MSP qualified; Degree in technology/business related subject desirable
  • Demonstrable experience in successfully managing the full project life cycle - a proven track record of success in end to end project delivery
  • Experience of project management in implementation of a Microsoft / Cloud related area
  • Experience managing Transition and Transformation projects
  • Experience with service delivery and transitioning systems to a production ready state
  • Understanding of the requirements for enterprise and commercial customer use of private cloud, hybrid cloud, and public cloud
  • Understanding of compute, storage, and data centre technologies and emerging trends in cloud computing and storage
  • Knowledge of key technology stacks, such as VMWare, Azure, AWS, etc
  • Strong commercial awareness
Key Accountabilities
  • Define overall approach and plan for all remediation activities
  • Work with solution architects and data architects to turn outputs from trusted source assessments into viable solutions that comply with Group Data Management Policy and Standard as well as Group Data Architecture Capabilities
  • Define effort and resource requirements for remediation activities and schedule work accordingly
  • Work with other Tech & Change initiatives to leverage existing development activities to remediate any non-compliance
  • Plan and manage any regression testing resources and activities
  • Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
  • Proven track record of delivering change to existing systems
  • Proven ability to structure, define and schedule change initiatives
  • Proven track record of delivery change using agile methodology
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills to convey technical changes in non-technical language
Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in delivering change in HR Technology landscape
  • Experience of working in data management and/or data architecture
What skills & experience are we looking for?
  • A good knowledge and experience of:
  • LAN/WAN protocols, technology, networking principles (for example VLANs, DHCP, DNS, routing, TCP, UDP protocols).
  • Cisco, Huawei and other equipment.
  • Good knowledge of Telecom carriers' network.
  • Hands-on experience of installing / configuring / replacing network hardware components is required.
