As a State and Local Tax Specialist, you will join Gallagher's corporate tax team to own a variety of state and local tax work streams, including tax accounting, sales tax compliance preparation, and managing business licenses, state registrations and annual reports. This role will require attention to detail and great organizational skills.

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare and compile data used to prepare sales and use tax returns
  • Aid in the preparation of the organization’s annual reports
  • Own and manage compliance for Gallagher's various business licenses and state registrations
  • Assist with compiling information needed to defend sales tax audits
  • Contact the IRS for taxpayer identification numbers and other Gallagher tax administration matters as needed
  • Support team with various tax journal entry reports
  • Prepare select Federal excise returns
  • Assist with annual e-file requirements as needed.

To succeed, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2 years related experience
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word with a focus toward automated solutions and improved operational outcomes. Powerpoint, Adobe and Visio and general ledger platform experience are a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Results oriented with the ability to solve problems and work in a team environment, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
