Position Summary:

The Senior Database Administrator reports directly to the Director of Data Services and will manage the activities associate with the administration, planning and organization of production, database administration, data resources and product administration.  They will also:

·        Execute tactical and strategic data-related projects

·        Resolve production issues

·        Implement, support and maintain of the overall data and infrastructure services

·        Uphold or exceed up-time with Service-Level Agreements (SLA)

·        Maintain asset tracking, service quality, client satisfaction, and partner relationships


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

You will have hands-on experience in a multitude of domains; including, but not limited to:

·        24x7x365 enterprise and cloud database infrastructure design and management

·        Security, business continuity, disaster recovery, data warehousing, business intelligence, predictive analytics, database design, database tuning, application optimization, application design, resource provisioning, virtual computing and storage

·        Enterprise data storage and backup, service delivery, service level agreements, incident tracking, and general database administration

·        Perform database server installations, database administration, maintenance, performance monitoring, SQL tuning activities, disaster recovery planning, documentation and testing

·        Provide operational readiness through the engineering, planning, coordination, execution of performance and tuning analysis

·        Systems support, incident and problem resolution

·        Software installation and upgrades

·        Debug and resolve database performance issues; determine the most proficient way to increase performance including hardware, server configuration, indexes and query revisions

·        Consult with development and quality assurance on compliance to establish standard methodologies for database design

·        Work with product development Infrastructure teams to streamline product implementations, design and processes

·        Available on call, as needed, to support product improvements, data uploads and technical issues

·        Support data migration projects, conversions and product upgrades

·        Design, Setup and lead Data Replication between production Environments

·        Discover automation opportunities to replace manual processes


·        Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field

·        8+ years of MSSQL Server experience

·        3+ years experience with AZURE

·        Proficiency with relational databases, techniques, de-normalized data structures, and ad hoc query/reporting

·        Experience with Microsoft SQL Server2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017

·        Always-on (with R/W split), log shipping, optimizing performance for Graph queries

·        Skilled with other RDBMS / Environments AWS / Azure / NO-SQL

·        Quest / Solarwind/ Idera or other monitoring software, database monitoring scripts, SQL trace, load balancers, caching servers

·        Knowledge of PowerShell scripting

·        18 years of age or older.
