Position Summary:
The Senior Full Charge Bookkeeper performs a broad range of accounting functions with lead responsibility for accounting records in a branch office or organization department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assigns transaction codes to documents. 
  • Classifies, examines, and analyzes accounting records and prepares related financial reports and statements. 
  • Performs special projects as assigned
  • Completes more routine and established projects and analyses for a specific accounting or finance area.  
  • Works under supervision of management or more senior staff.  
  • Ensures documents being processed are included in the appropriate accounting period. 
  • Posts, balances, and closes subsidiary ledgers. 
  • May follow up on delinquent accounts receivable customers. 
  • Analyzes and verifies internal consistency, completeness, and arithmetic accuracy of account documents and makes adjustments.

Additional Considerations: 

  • Supervises a team of bookkeepers.
  • Processes accounting for multiple companies.
  • Financial statement preparation.
  • Reconcile bank and brokerage accounts.
  • Prepares and makes monthly and quarterly journal entries.
  • Reviews Source Documentation for Reasonableness.
  • Month-end close. 
  • Assists in external audits.
  • Assists in 1099 preparation and submitting information to tax preparer.
  • Special projects as assigned.


  • High school diploma 
  • 2 or more years related experience OR Bachelor's degree.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles. 


  • Accounting Degree
  • Accounting experience
  • Quickbooks Experience
  • Advanced Excel Skills

Work Traits:

  • Ability to Multi-Task.
  • Excellent communication skills. 

U.S. Eligibility Requirements:

Exceptions to these requirements will be determined based on shortage of qualified candidates with a particular skill. Gallagher will require proof of work authorization.
