Reporting to the Head of L&D, this role has a great breadth of exposure and accountability focused on design, development, and delivery of training programs and modules to our Personal Lines team of service employees. 

 

This role is responsible for leading and executing learning and development projects and programs that allow our Personal Lines teams to achieve their business objectives and execute strategic change, including the L&D support of current and future merger partners. 

 

This includes training on people skills, technical skills, process and systems training focused on both mass market and high net worth personal lines clients. 

 

The Personal Lines Learning & Development Manager is responsible for designing/developing new training content and managing/enhancing existing training content in collaboration with corporate and divisional efforts, providing Gallagher’s personal lines teams a cohesive and comprehensive learning experience. Focus is on managing all aspects of planning, coordinating, and engaging with leaders and subject matter experts to deliver best-in-class development courses/programs.

Position Summary:


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Lead projects and collaborate with HR, L&D partners and other key business stakeholders to engage, plan, train, execute and evaluate learning solutions to address key learning gaps and provide recommendations to address non-learning-related risks and success factors
  • Demonstrate advanced project-management practices related to learning and development, including the development of project plans, identification of resources, development, review and maintenance of content, and effort and duration estimates associated with training programs and collateral
  • Assess learning goals, gaps, and constraints
  • Design creative and effective learning solutions to enable employees to succeed in their roles
  • Develop new and/or repurposed learning deliverables including storyboards, and instructor/participant materials
  • Evaluate effectiveness of the learning engagement and recommend continual-improvement methods in partnership with the business. 
  • Identify and keep all key stakeholders engaged and informed, ensuring clear communication, identification of risks and risk mitigation approaches, and manage expectations. 
     

CRITICAL COMPETENCIES 

  • A L&D professional – Strong knowledge of learning strategy and design, instructional methods and training techniques including curriculum design principles, adult learning, eLearning and blended learning theory and strategies.
  • Business Acumen – Background in Personal Lines Insurance and a brokerage environment a plus
    • Client experience – ability to develop learning solutions that connect the target client experience for each target client segment to the knowledge and skills of the service team
    • Understands the needs and engagement expectations of high net worth and ultra-high net worth customers

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years directly applicable experience in insurance or financial brokerage
  • Experienced L&D professional – knows the ADDIE model including curriculum design and adult learning approaches
  • Deep familiarity with a range of L&D solutions – on-demand modules, instructor led events, job aids, and more
  • Experience developing and prescribing strategies for curriculum management, student-centered learning, or adult learners
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) – Cornerstone a plus
  • Understands and is able to tie the value of learning deliverables to business results
  • Proficient in using MS Office applications with key strengths in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, MS Teams, SharePoint.
