The Role of the Medicare Part C Sales Director

The Sales Director drives revenue growth by generating new Medicare Part C advisory engagements for new and existing Medicare Advantage clients, with emphasis on large, high-revenue clients.

Success in this position requires efficient deployment of strategic sales process with respect to review of current accounts and prospecting of new accounts. Internal networking within the organization is critical to driving optimal client outcomes, as BluePeak is committed to aligning subject matter experts to client needs appropriately. Management of the engagement start to finish is the responsibility of the Sales Director.

Objectives for Success

  • Own development of a robust pipeline of prospects created from the existing roster of clients as well as from your own contacts and knowledge of government Health Plans and associated companies.

  • Develop an individual business plan and production budget. Communicate this to BluePeak leadership.

  • Establish and maintain a new business pipeline of qualified leads exceeding four times goal. Weekly, ensure all tracked pipeline information is current and reflects actual activity and stage in the sales process.

  • Have the ability to conduct client discovery with confidence in the presence of C Suite level contacts at the client organization.

  • Capably consult clients on an independent basis and recognize opportunities to bring in other SMEs.

  • Leverage deep understanding of the government healthcare marketplace to develop unique proposals for client work.

  • As engagements are brought in to the firm, keep abreast of status, providing leadership as to strategy, communications and problem-solving.

  • Take responsibility for scheduling internal account review meetings, ensuring timely and thorough completion of prescribed process to ensure client retention, always thinking creatively about next steps needed to expand the account. Include executive sponsors as appropriate.

  • Semi-annually or as often as necessary, brief BluePeak leadership as to the status of all key accounts.

  • Enthusiastically embrace and partner with the BluePeak and broader Gallagher Benefit Services organization:

o    Within 30 days, identify an internal network of supportive figures (Consultants, Leaders, etc.) to be relied upon for guidance and advice. Set informal meetings with these individuals as needed.

o    Within 60 days of completing introductory training, be able to introduce the BluePeak value proposition, with the goal of providing introductions to other relevant BluePeak and Gallagher SMEs.

o    Within six months, develop a method by which you will be made aware of needs and introduced to existing clients as the Medicare Part C Subject Matter Expert.

  • Know your competition. Provide information as to wins/losses you are aware of in the market, and always schedule post-presentation reviews that include all BluePeak participants.

  • Know the Health Plans. Understand relative strengths of each, developing key relationships within them.

  • Keep abreast of market trends including legislative and compliance-related topics.

  • Regularly solicit feedback on your performance in client-facing and internal colleague-facing settings.

  • At prospecting, proposal, and account management stages, provide training through partnership with junior team members. Highlight complex client strategy and technical analysis as well as emphasis on client value, compliance and ethical conduct. Apply industry technologies as appropriate; direct account transfers professionally.

  • Manage sales situations and client service interactions to comply with company procedures and prevent error and omission incidents.

  • Speak up regarding succession opportunities of interest. Provide guidance to leaders who seek to ensure your career progresses in the most rewarding manner possible.

Required Experience:

  • Client facing experience at a consulting company, insurance company, brokerage or in the Health and Benefits discipline.
  • Experience with Medicare Part C claims including Organizational Determinations, Grievances and Appeals; CMS Star Ratings; HEDIS and Quality Management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years Medicare Part C experience OR High School Diploma/GED and 10+ years Medicare Part C experience.
  • RN desirable but not required.
