Gallagher Benefit Services (GBS) division is the global employee benefits and HR consulting arm of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., one of the world’s largest insurance brokerages which provides a full range of retail and wholesale property/casualty (P/C) brokerage services, alternative risk transfer services globally, as well as employee benefit brokerage, consulting, and actuarial services.  Within the GBS division, there are about 4,300 employees based in four countries.

 

We’re looking for someone with strategic vision and proven tactical excellence, who combines the two skill sets to confidently help guide and measure GBS internal communication programs. Specifically, we need a candidate who is ready to implement our first-ever global GBS internal communications strategy across our matrixed organization. You’ll drive consistency of process and practice within our growing function, and you’ll be a tireless champion for the employee experience at all levels. With your input and contributions, we’ll create a meaningful, ongoing conversation with employees to help Gallagher achieve our dominant business priorities, while promoting our unique culture and shared values, known as The Gallagher Way.


Basic Responsibilities

The Internal Communications Manager’s primary focus is to support and execute internal communications initiatives at the divisional level for Gallagher Benefit Services.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for writing, editing, reviewing and overseeing the release of internal communication documents and programs that support the division’s key growth initiatives and drive consistent messaging. Must be able to communicate effectively across different levels of the organization, effectively utilize a variety of channels/platforms and meet deadlines for multiple projects.


Job Requirements

  • Support planning and execution of all internal communications programs and initiatives that demonstrate thought leadership and operational relevance
  • Develop toolkits and communications to help facilitate understanding of new go-to-market strategies and process enhancements.
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues to produce accurate, compelling, and editorially proficient written communications and ensure consistency of messaging.
  • Align programs and deliverables with division’s strategic objectives and dominant priorities and promote the brand through key themes and messages.
  • Serve as Editor-in-chief of the Sales and Marketing SharePoint site; publishing consistent, relevant and compelling content for employees including featured articles.
  • Write and edit internal materials, including program announcements, organizational announcements, intranet articles, leadership communications/messages, job aids, newsletters, best practice guides, talking points, emails, etc.
  • Manage catalogue of best practice guidebooks for marketing and sales events, campaign planning, thought leadership, internal communications, etc.
  • Assist in managing, reviewing and compiling internal updates for Executive Committee.
  • Manage internal send calendar of initiatives.
  • Own and execute divisional marketing internal newsletter.
  • Maintain biography library for thought leaders and executives.
  • Support internal events and conferences as needed.
  • Assist in video script development, project oversight and production

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field with a thorough understanding of communications principles and practices.
  • 6+ years of progressive communications experience, preferably in corporate communications with a focus on internal communications and driving change initiatives.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong writing, proofing and editorial skills. 
Desired Skills & Expertise:

  • Excellent, customer-centric oral and written communication skills, with an emphasis on grammar, copywriting, and proofreading
  • Equally strong communication skills to work with subject matter experts to produce communications
  • Experience in editing and proofreading all types of copy, both technical and narrative
  • Familiarity with Associated Press Style guidelines
  • Experience executing marketing projects that resulted in increased brand visibility
  • Sets priorities with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Utilizes excellent time management skills and works under tight deadlines
  • Provides a consistent level of high quality and accuracy in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Tech savvy and desire to learn different platforms quickly
  • Solid skills in putting together Power Point presentations
  • Working knowledge of Excel
  • Ability to work independently while being able to establish strong working relationships with a network of internal and external staff
  • Excellent communications skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize those projects to meet desired deadlines
  • Knowledge in MS Office, Adobe Creative, Poppulo and Salesforce.com along with demonstrated skills across social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+ etc.
