Your role:

  • Implement an Alesco wide data aggregation software system. Whilst ensuring that all activities and analysis align with Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulatory, compliance and market standards.
  • You maintain awareness of responsibilities under the FCA and other regulatory requirements to ensure all business is conducted in accordance with these necessities.
  • You handle your own workload effectively to help service the customer relationship. Your focus is to reach customer deadlines within the required service level agreement; ensuring satisfaction.
  • With the support and mentoring of the Alesco Analytics and Qualified Actuarial resource in the team, you will further develop team.

Job Purpose:

To act as a Pricing Manager in the best interests of the company. Leading Underwriting Insight & Pricing responsibility in the overall pricing process for Volume, Commercial and Speciality lines with Pen Underwriting. To enhance the quality of underwriting decisions and consequent performance through the implementation and oversight of quantitative pricing models. To ensure best practice initiatives for all actuarial and analytic pricing functions.





Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:

  • Deliver and maintain pricing and analytical solutions for all underwriting lines
  • Lead development, implementation and oversight for actuarial best practice in portfolio and product pricing
  • Recommend initiatives to enhance underwriting profitability
  • Measure impact of underwriting actions, rate change, renewal retention, new and lost business
  • Work closely with UI Reserving Actuarial functions to understand claim reserve developments and consult / inform of pricing and underwriting actions that may impact reserve estimates
  • Support the collection and maintenance of pricing data
  • Establish training and technical support to underwriting staff in respect of rating models and pricing approach
  • Present and promote our pricing approach to insurance capacity and peer group actuaries
  • Manage a number of analysts involved in the pricing process, set priorities/performance goals/objectives, oversee personal development plans, coaching and talent development
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, reporting and documented procedure for workflow management
  • Keep abreast of industry initiatives, new pricing methods and best practice 

Additional Considerations:

Your Technical Scope:

  • Thorough grasp of actuarial pricing techniques, creating and implementing of complex pricing models and the strong problem solving mindset to achieve real results.
  • You can comfortably translate business requirements into practical pricing solutions; with strong analytical skills and advanced competency in managing large data sets.

A little more about you:

  • You have proven practical experience in non-life personal lines and/or commercial lines pricing. With deep knowledge and experience of standard methodology pricing techniques, methodologies and application.
  • You have an un-matched ability to influence and advocate appropriate pricing strategies, balancing performance against portfolio growth. With excellent presentation skills and experience interacting and presenting to senior management and a Board of Directors.
  • You take a real sense of pride in problem-solving; comfortable making key decisions having analysed complex information. You see a problem, find the solution and drive us to victory.
  • With a natural confidence and high degree of organisational ability, you take great enjoyment when planning at a strategic, group level.
  • With an analytical approach, you have a deep grasp of the issues involved in running a business; including the key financial dynamics and drivers.
  • You have eligibility to work in the UK
