Position Summary:  
Manages team of Client Financial Accounting Specialists. With more senior staff, develops and implements policies and procedures. Anticipates and provides solutions to the most complex finance and accounting problems. Manages variety of ongoing accounting functions which may include day-to-day activities as well as more specialized accounting activities within a business unit. 

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Prepares complex accounting analysis. 
  • Compiles or consolidates accounting data for the production of financial statements or public reports (balance sheet, statement of cash flows, etc.). 
  • Reconciles and recommends adjustments to general ledger accounts, bank statements, and/or intercompany accounts. 
  • Reconciles and adjusts various general ledger accounts and/or bank statements. 
  • Compiles, consolidates, and analyzes financial information for the production of financial statements and reports.  
  • Manages Client Financial Accounting Specialists, providing direction, setting goals and ensuring that overall department goals are attained.  
  • May perform a variety of accounting activities related to financial reporting, and recoding of accounting transactions. 
  • Provides and interprets data from accounting records as required from management.  
  • Coordinates accounting services and integrates with operating needs. 
  • Oversees the management of functions such as property records, general ledger and general accounting services. 
  • May also be responsible for reconciliation of intercompany accounts, managing and controlling the fixed asset register, capital expenditure controls & reporting, statutory accounts production, corporate tax computation and/or cost center reporting and analysis. 
  • Coordinates external audits.

• May also be responsible for reconciliation of intercompany accounts, managing and controlling the fixed asset register, capital expenditure controls & reporting, statutory accounts production, corporate tax computation and/or cost center reporting and analysis.
• Coordinates external audits.
• Manages financial operational and reporting activities for a branch within the company which may include some or all of the following areas: accounting, financial reporting, financial planning and budgeting;
• Ensures thorough evaluation of financial aspects of insurance business decisions, maintains integrity of accounting and financial reporting and provides economic, strategic and operational planning information and analysis;
• Ensures that company and client trust financial reports are prepared in compliance with company policies and directives as well as US GAAP where applicable;
• Reviews weekly payables for the organization and its trust clients;
• Assists with annual budget planning;
• Coordinates work relating to audits of the organization (when applicable) and its trust clients as well as implementation of agreed-upon recommendations, related to areas of responsibility, resulting from audit findings, if any;
• Ensures that the accounting department is staffed with qualified financial personnel capable of meeting the objectives and responsibilities noted above. Responsible for continued development and guidance of these staff members;
• Oversees activities of Finance & Accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports, including, but not limited to:
• Internal and external monthly financial statements
• Annual/client audits
• Trust tax returns
• Contributions income and claims processing
• Oversees disbursement activities, including, but not limited to:
• Ensuring accurate and timely processing of accounts payable
• Purchase orders
• Payroll processing and payroll tax compliance
• Oversees Accounts Receivable, including, but not limited to:
• Aging components
• Billings
• Participates in a wide variety of special projects and reports
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor's degree 
  • CPA and 5 years of experience required.
Preferred: 
  • Public Accounting experience highly preferred. 
  • Master's degree and Captive Insurance experience preferred.
Work Traits: 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
