The position

GB are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager/Finance Business Partner for our South Australia Workers Compensation department, to join our office located in Adelaide CBD.

Reporting to the General Manager Finance (Qld based), you will work closely in supporting the General Manager Workers Compensation SA and Senior WCSA Leadership Team with regular contact and support of the other state based Commercial Managers and Qld based Corporate Finance team.

Key Activities:

  • To act as a commercial advisor and business partner, bringing commercial and financial insight to drive performance and profitability across the business, while maintaining an effective delivery of our services to our South Australia operation.
  • Business partnering with General Manager in providing in depth analysis, reporting and decision support, including client(employer)/product(industry)/contract margin/performance analysis, to achieve higher value commercial outcomes
  • Preparation of monthly financial results, including journals and account reconciliations with a particular focus on revenue recognition and workforce efficiency
  • Delivering pricing for all WCSA opportunities in accordance with internal margin framework while reflecting the scope of services and associated contract risk
  • Accompanying major negotiations and driving profitable pricing strategies for current and prospective clients
  • Partnering with Operational Excellence team to influence and strengthen systems and processes to ensure sustainability, high performance and delivery of financial benefit
  • Stretch and grow commercial awareness, thinking and practices to positively impact the business
  • Management of the monthly reporting, annual budgeting and quarterly planning process,  to improve performance and profitability across products and individual client contracts
  • Ensuring integrity of performance reporting, variance analysis and KPI framework focussed on driving actionable insights and driving business productivity (incorporating volume, rate and mix aspects)

What we are looking for:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Commerce
  • Relevant financial and accounting qualifications (CA or CPA)
  • Results driven “hands-on” individual that can demonstrate commercial experience combined with strategic business focus.
  • Intuitive and demonstrable business acumen with advisory experience to diverse stakeholders. Proven ability to reach agreement with multiple stakeholders on change initiated from commercial analysis and then drive the delivery of same.
  • Extensive experience in delivering commercial and strategic outcomes and a proven ability in business modelling, analysis and reporting
  • Astute problem-solver who can work autonomously and build strong relationships at all levels to influence business performance.
  • Ability to use personal approach, and passion for the business, to make a real impact to influence senior decision makers both within our organization and in the market
  • Insurance, or professional services, sector experience would be highly desirable but not essential
