The position


We currently have a vacancy for a Team Leader to overlook a specialized team of Claims Officers  (known internally as Best Practice Assessors) to join our office located in North Sydney

As this senior role will be providing support to our U.S. colleagues, you will have the opportunity to work flexible hours, with early starts and finishes.

Your role, alongside another Team Leader and reporting to the Team Manager:


Managing and maximising the performance of the Best Practice team through:

  • Setting and monitoring of appropriate quantitative and qualitative performance targets
  • Managing the daily workflow to monitor and manage team performance
  • Providing day to day leadership, technical support and development
  • Monitoring performance through regular reporting and feedback
  • Participating in the day-to day management of staff such as managing attendance and participation
  • Analyse team performance trends and propose remedial action to resolve issues where required
  • Regular calibrations and other quality assurance tasks to ensure quality
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency of processes within the team to improve operational control and performance
  • Undertaking and managing projects as required
  • Producing reports and presenting audit results to U.S. colleagues via teleconference


Managing and motivating staff through:

  • Promotion of high performance culture
  • Instil Gallagher Bassett values, visions and purpose within the team and encouraging  the Gallagher Way
  • Identify training and development needs of team members
  • Coaching, development and mentoring at a group and individual level
  • Addressing recruitment, retention and absenteeism needs of the team
  • Actively participate in the ePDC review process for career and personal development (including regular 1:1 reviews with staff and performance counselling when required)
  • Maintain current development plans in place for all staff
  • Succession planning for key roles in the team
What we are looking for:
  • Claims management experience (Personal Injury an advantage)
  • Management / supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of general business and administrative practices
  • Communication effectiveness / demonstrated high level interpersonal skills
  • Proven experience in achieving business targets
  • Proven experience in relationship building
  • Flexibility and receptivity to change
