Position Summary:  

 

As a member of the Business Intelligence team, you will work 1:1 with the Chief Information Officer to derive insights from our data in order to create business opportunities for Gallagher Bassett.  Your hands-on research will leverage our data platforms; exploring relationships and trends to uncover previously unknown opportunities so that we can apply those learnings to improve our business results. 

 

You will benefit from both a hands-approach and apprenticeship with a company executive, developing skills in critical thinking, advanced modeling and analytics as well as techniques to explore large quantities of data.  The successful candidate should expect to work directly with the CIO for ~2 years; subsequently transitioning into a leadership role in the broader Business Intelligence team.

 

Essential responsibilities are: 

  • Perform detailed data analytics to evaluate and prove / disprove the questions posed by the executives.
  • Conducting primary and/or secondary research to identify required data to solve a given business question.
  • Leverage SQL in order to perform data analysis is the core of this role.
  • Minimal direct management oversight required.
  • Little or no direct client involvement.  

Additional Considerations: 

  • Ability to understand the business, questions they are trying to get resolved.
  • Participate in the discussions; learning about GB’s business challenges and opportunities.
  • Package and present insights from analyses and serve as the liaison between business leaders and IT teams.

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1 or more years professional experience.
  • Prior experience in a quantitative field, through internships or other consultative work, and/or demonstrated ability to perform independent quantitative analyses of a moderate to highly complex nature accepted in lieu of full experience.
  • Less than 20% travel.  

Desired:

  • Master’s/MBA degree
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Proficient with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Access or enterprise database programs a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience in the IT industry.
  • Intermediate/Strong SQL skills. Experience in data mining and data profiling is a plus.
