Do you have substantial accounting experience in a busy, forward-thinking and tightly managed business? We are looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join our team in Glasgow.

Your expert knowledge and insight will help to support with the preparation, development and analysis of key financial information to provide to the business. You will also provide a first class support service by partnering with other business areas and leading colleagues on all aspects of finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will prepare journals including prepayments; accruals and reallocations for the standard month-end process for 2 key divisions. Analysing P&L and Balance Sheet to identify mis-postings and correct as necessary.
  • Assist with preparation of year-end accounts, liaising with auditors as required. Control bonus accruals to year-end budgets and prepare month-end Control Accounts/ Reconciliations for various balances.
  • Liaising with the off-shore processing team to control posting of month end journal transactions;
  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure the part of the business for which you are accountable for demonstrably follows applicable laws, rules, regulation, good governance and Gallagher’s shared values, in particular, putting clients at the heart of our business. If shortcomings are identified take responsibility for remedial action planning, and action in conjunction with the relevant authorities within the firm


 

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • University degree in relevant field is essential with desire to undertake ACCA/CA/CIMA desirable.

  • You should have relevant IT skills, with basic experience in Microsoft Excel as a minimum

  • Previous experience working in Financial Services management, SOX experience and experience in assisting a management accountant previously would be relevant but not essential skills

  • Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills in all formats and the ability to quickly identify and resolve problems and seek advice when required are all traits that will lead to your success.

  • Ability to work on instruction, on own initiative and prioritise your workload.

  • Experience of operating to strict deadlines

  • Eligibility to work in the UK
