This position provides support to GBS Pharmacy team on activities related to sales and presentation of deliverables of employee pharmacy benefit plans for clients and prospects. This may include, but will not be limited to, meeting with clients to review pharmacy results, review and interpret marketing results and be able to explain and present utilization and cost trend analysis to clients and/or prospects  


Responsibilities include:   

  • Maintain technical understanding of employee benefits insurance products and concepts
  • Have a strong understanding of current Employee Benefits regulations
  • Meet with clients on quarterly basis to review pharmacy results
  • Review and interpret marketing results
  • Explain utilization and cost trends to clients and/or prospects
  • Maintain interaction at all levels of hierarchy – clients, prospects, vendors and carriers, primarily for accounts assigned to this position
  • Establish and maintain proactive communication with clients/carriers and vendors
  • Keep a current awareness of vendors’ products and capabilities
  • Attend internal training sessions as well as industry related sessions to enhance knowledge and to build professional development as needed
  • Keep Sr. Consultant informed on matters of importance via written and verbal correspondence
  • Advise on and contribute to creation of content for employee communication material to be used by client regarding employee benefit design and cost
  • Respond to all client and/or employee questions regarding pharmacy benefits and solve complex issues in a timely manner as needed
  • Stay abreast of client pharmacy activity, including renewals
  • Communicate with carrier/vendor representatives
  • Assist with the preparation of presentation materials for clients/prospects
  • Develop client deliverables as requested and on an as needed basis
  • Interface with team members and servicing team on issues relating to the client
  • Maintain client files with documentation as required by internal compliance standards
  • Set and communicate clear and realistic expectations in order to avoid perception of service delivery failure
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal team members by demonstrating customer focus and work ethic, thereby establishing an environment of trust and reliability
  • Effectively communicate client needs and challenges to team members and delegate appropriately to subordinates on the team
  • Perform initial review of policies/contracts and other documents relevant to the client plan
  • Assist with development of spreadsheets and preparation of proposals for prospective and existing accounts
  • Participate in peer review of all client facing documents as required by internal company policy
  • Participate in special projects as assigned; perform other duties as assigned by management
  • Maintain favorable relationships at a local level by collaborating and engaging at all times with preferred vendors and providers of pharmacy services
  • Keep team informed of activity surrounding renewals and deadline status regarding Pharmacy RFP creation and distribution.
  • Continue to stay abreast of what’s happening in local markets, to make certain that internal team and clients are given the tools needed to stay competitive in the community

  • Must be highly organized  with the ability to prioritize well and work under deadlines
  • Must have ability to work in environment with frequent interruptions and high volume of activities
  • Must possess high level skills in oral and written communication. Should be comfortable with making presentations to peers and to clients
  • Must have excellent technical skills and knowledge of business applications (ie, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access (other related databases) and PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Must have developed problem solving skills to allow for the least amount of supervision
  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years related experience required OR High School Diploma/GED and 8 years experience.
  • Appropriate insurance licensing required.


  • Professional designation such as CIC, CEBS, CPCU, or ARM.
