The position
 
Based in our Darwin Office the Return to Independence Specialist role provides a personalised service to individuals injured at work to assist them in returning to work, developing achievable goals and maintaining independence.
 
This is a mobile role where you will be required to undertake face-to-face visits with the workers, employers, treating health practitioners and treatment providers. You will focus on influencing and encouraging parties to participate in the return to work process and take ownership of actions.
 
Reporting directly to the Team Manager, main responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting and educating employers and workers in completing documentation as required, ensuring technical elements of the act are explained in a language that the worker and employer can understand;
  • Providing guidance and support to individuals injured at work in achieving their goals with the focus to return to work and increase independence in their lives.
  • Facilitating and monitoring medical cost management strategies on claims, ensuring cost-effectiveness;
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure consistency across portfolios, to produce return to work outcomes, review of entitlements and where possible early determinations;
  • Participating in all aspects of goal development and strategies with injured workers, by working collaboratively with treating health practitioners and allied health providers, to achieve a return to work outcome
To be successful in this role you will have excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships, provide high levels of customer service and the ability to empathise with individuals injured at work. You will also have the ability to work autonomously with strong attention to detail and the ability to think strategically coupled with sound experience of the Workers Compensation/Claims Management. Candidates with an allied health background or experience within the disability sector will be held in high regard.
 
A driver’s licence and car are essential for this role.
