The Position
 
Based in our Darwin Office, the role of the Disputes Resolution / Permanent Impairment Officer is to conduct resolution procedures in a manner which will maximise worker and employer satisfaction and minimise costs related to disputes.  This role is additionally responsible for providing specialist claims investigations, determining lump sum entitlements and accurate whole person impairment entitlements in line with legislation. 
 
Other areas of responsibility include:
  • Provide high quality customer service to internal customers, injured workers, employers and legal representatives to ensure best practice claims outcomes are achieved;
  • Ensure dispute outcomes are effectively communicated and actioned within specified timeframes
  • Undertake tasks associated with the preparation of claims conferences
  • Represent Gallagher Bassett in a professional, informed manner in accordance with model litigant behavioral guidelines
  • Provide mentoring, coaching and specialist technical assistance and training to internal stakeholders
  • Review and make recommendations regarding lump sum and serious injury entitlements of injured workers in line with legislation
  • Liaise with investigators and provide all relevant information so as to determine entitlements regarding death and dependency claims
  • Investigate and determine liability on noise induced hearing loss claims in line with relevant Acts
The Candidate
 
To be successful in this role you will need Claims Management experience in Workers Compensation as well as knowledge of relevant Acts and Legislative requirements. We are looking for someone who has knowledge (or interest in gaining knowledge) of the impairment assessment guidelines and case law.
 
Dispute management experience would be desirable and well as developed technical experience regarding claims strategies and determinations. A strong understanding of medical terminology would be advantageous.
